Water Project In Bangladesh
The rural population of Bangladesh (97%) rely heavily on tubewells. In order to prevent diarrheal disease especially in children - in Bangladesh, millions of tubewells have been installed in the past 3 decades. Once a tubewell has been installed, it can last anything from 15 to 20 years, if the beneficiary takes care of the tubewell. In the absence of clean tubewell people are forced to drink & use contaminated water from pond or lake which is bacteria laden. Your 250 donation could provide life saving clean water for a family for decades. Outside of monsoon season a tuebwell could take up to 3-6 months to get the best source of water.
We have installed over 2680 tubewells since 2011 in rural areas in Bangladesh. Although is it given to one beneficiary it is also ensured that the tubewell is accessible to everyone in the village. We have observed that around 10 families use 1 tubewell within an hour on average. Installed tubewells are manually operated and can pump water from a depth of 40 to 50 meters below ground. They have an average lifespan of 10 to 15 years and are easy to maintain by the beneficiary. We are working very hard to provide clean water for the very poor in around 65 districts in Bangladesh and our aim is to install 5000 tubewells by 2025 in the most water deprived areas in Bangladesh.

Assalamu Alaikum, G&Y installed a tube well for us as a family to drink fresh water. We experienced a lot of difficulties as a result of not having a tube well. We needed to walk 15/20 minutes to fetch water from ponds and on other occasions from other houses which was very far from our house. Since the installation of this tube well, 7/8 families are benefitting with fresh water.
Please Note: It can take anything from 7/9 months to complete the installation of a Hand-pump or a tubewell after the donation has been made. This is due to the restrictions of some locations and also taking into account the weather and suitability of building in certain period of the year. Additionally, a due diligence check must also be carried out.
