Winter Project In Bangladesh
Bangladesh is full of people who are living under the open skies due to extreme poverty and do not have any protection from the bitter cold. The winter of 2018 proved to be a record low for Bangladesh with the temperatures dropping to its lowest ever at 2.6 degrees in Tetulia, and Panchagarh due to a severe cold wave prevailing through the northern districts. This is in line with the annual cold waves that Bangladesh experiences which is at least 3 to 5 times annually. Such low (lowest in 40 years) temperature causes immense difficulties and hardships for the poor and needy. There have been more than 80 deaths recorded due to cold and numerous others have been hospitalised with respiratory issues and pneumonia. There have also been other illnesses as a result of the extreme cold and which in some cases has been fatal. With your support we are able to provide necessary shelter which provides them the warmth needed for the harsh winters faced by the poor and vulnerable.
Winter is a very difficult season for some especially those who are suffering from extreme poverty and have very little to depend on; always having the fear of how they�ll make it through the winter season. G&Y has already � with your support � taken the initiative of aiding the underprivileged in the areas which are also underdeveloped in Bangladesh. We have distributed 500 blankets in 2023 with an overall average of 16,000 blankets since the inception of G&Y and have helped over 20,000 people. Our hope is to reach over the 1,000 mark each year of distributing blankets with your help and support. We can reach a lot more people in particular those who are living in rural areas and are somewhat forgotten.
