Ramadan Project In Bangladesh
"Whosoever gives something to a fasting person in order to break the fast, for him there shall be forgiveness for his sins and emancipation from the fire of Jahanam" (Bayhaqi).
Bangladesh is a majority Muslim country with 90% of the population subscribing to the Islamic faith. The Holy month of Ramadan is for some, a very hard month, especially for those who have very little to provide for their families. As a charity that is based on Islamic principles we endeavour to provide all the fasting poor with food so that they can at least have one good meal to break their fast.
We at G&Y provide Ramadan Family food packs from the funds that are collected for Sadq-e-Fitr (Also known as Fitrana). A Ramadan Family food pack contains Rice, Onions, Cooking Oil, Lentils, Dates, Chickpeas, and Salt. A Ramadan Family food pack can serve a family of 4 for a complete month. We also provide food for orphans and blind Huffaz in Madrasas (Islamic School) during the month of Ramadan. We aim to expand our reach by covering 64 districts to provide Ramadan food packs for those in desperate need.
A Family’s Joyful Eid Celebration Moulvibazar
Fatima, a widow with four children, struggled to provide for her family during Ramadan. With the help of the Ramadan Food Pack Project, she received essential supplies, including rice, lentils, and cooking oil. This support allowed her to prepare special meals for her children during the holy month and celebrate Eid with joy. Fatima expressed her gratitude, saying, "The food pack has made a significant difference in our lives, allowing us to observe Ramadan with dignity."
Hope for a Single Parent Moulvibazar
Rahim, a single father of two, faced financial hardship and was unsure how he would feed his children during Ramadan. Thanks to the Ramadan Food Pack Project, he received a generous supply of food items that sustained his family throughout the month. Rahim shared, "The food pack brought relief to my family. We could enjoy iftar together, and it helped me focus on my prayers instead of worrying about where our next meal would come from."
