Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) reported: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made it obligatory for the Muslims to give one sa' (a measure of volume) of food as Zakat al-Fitr for every person, and he said: 'It is to purify those who fast from any indecent act or speech and to help the poor.'" Goreeb & Yateem Trust Fund: The Fitra Project
The Goreeb & Yateem Trust Fund (GYTF), a UK-based charity established in 2007, is dedicated to alleviating poverty among orphans and impoverished individuals in Bangladesh. One of its key initiatives, the Fitra Project, enables donors to fulfill their Zakat al-Fitr obligation—an essential act of charity given before Eid-ul-Fitr to purify one’s fast and support those in need.
Through this initiative, GYTF distributes essential food packs to underprivileged families, ensuring they can celebrate Eid with dignity and joy. Each food pack is designed to sustain a family of four for up to 30 days and includes staples such as rice, onions, cooking oil, lentils, dates, chickpeas, and salt.
Beyond individual families, GYTF also extends its support to institutions housing orphans and blind students, ensuring they, too, benefit from these provisions. This reflects the Islamic principle of caring for the most vulnerable in society.
By facilitating Zakat al-Fitr contributions, GYTF not only helps donors fulfill their religious obligations but also combats hunger and uplifts struggling communities across Bangladesh. This initiative embodies the spirit of generosity and social responsibility that Islam encourages.
May Allah ﷻ accept our efforts and bring relief to those in need. Ameen.

Amina, a single mother of four, lived in a remote village in Bangladesh, struggling to provide food for Eid-ul-Fitr. With no steady income, she feared her children would go without a proper meal on this blessed day. But through the Fitra Project, she received a food package containing rice, lentils, and cooking oil—just in time for the celebration. Overwhelmed with relief, she smiled and said: "This support allowed me to cook a proper meal for my children on Eid day. It brought joy to my family and strengthened my faith."
